Dear MUN Coaches & Advisors,
We are now less than one week away, and I know I speak for Anthony and Natalie when I say how excited we are about hosting all of you next weekend! We wanted to take this opportunity to share some final reminders about the conference.
First, please know that our greatest hope with this conference is that we are planting a seed for middle school students. A successful conference will mean that students (and advisors) will leave ISB feeling energized and excited about MUN.
There may be some slight differences to other conferences your students have attended. We have tried to create some opportunities for students to get to know one another outside of committees, which is why we host the conference over two days, have planned a mixed-school quiz, and added a general assembly. Of course, we want to make it as authentic as possible, but we also want everyone leaving excited and inspired.
Regarding committee sessions, we have about twenty high school MUN students who are voluntarily serving as chairs. We have mostly modeled our sessions off of the model that NIST has been using for many years. The the flow of the sessions will look something like this:
Additionally, in preparation for committee sessions, your students will need to prepare the following:
A pre-written opening speech (no more than 60 seconds)
Research on the issue, potential blocks, and country positions
Optional: Pre-written clauses for resolutions
Due to past experience, we have recognized that not all students have the confidence to speak up during POIs, so by combining Opening Speeches and General Speaker’s List, we are providing space for ALL students to engage and develop their debate skills.
Important Information
For your reference, the schedule is linked HERE.
If visiting from outside of Bangkok, schools are responsible for arranging their own accommodations and transportation. We recommend Best Western located approximately 10 minutes from ISB and Montri bus services for transportation (contact Khun Oun 086-082-0006).
If you have any students who are no longer able to attend or additional students who have decided to join and that number is not reflected in the table below, please contact Kevin Kuehn (kevink@isb.ac.th).
Important Deadlines
Advisor and delegate should have been added to the ISB MS MUN 2024 Roster Form.
Conference fees (1,200 THB per Delegate) are due by Monday, March 11th. Advisors will attend for free.
