Greetings MUN Delegates,

ISB is excited to be welcoming you to our Middle School Model United Nations (MUN) Conference. We are thrilled to host an event that encourages young people to engage with world issues, better understand the complexities of global politics, and work towards peaceful and diplomatic solutions. We hope that your time at ISB and in the MUN Conference is challenging, rewarding, and fun.

MUN is an excellent opportunity for you to develop essential skills such as public speaking, negotiation, critical thinking, and teamwork. It also offers you the chance to explore global issues and to gain a deeper understanding of international relations. MUN provides an authentic environment in which to develop the leadership skills that will serve you well as leaders for the future.

A special thank you to our MS MUN sponsors: Ms. Robinson and Mr. Kuehn, who along with the support of Mr. Giles, have organized this wonderful event. Hosting events and ensuring high quality experiences is a team effort. We are so appreciative of the dedication and skill of our buildings and ground team who transform spaces into meeting rooms and auditorium halls.

Over the next two days, we encourage you to fully engage in the experience. You'll have a chance to practice your speaking and debating skills. Don't forget to practice your listening skills too. You've all stayed informed about the topics you will be discussing and you are ready to do the hard work of considering others' perspectives, even as you represent your delegation's own. Listening, understanding, and empathy are maybe the skills of a leader that our world needs most.

You will also have the opportunity to meet and interact with students from different schools and backgrounds. This might be one of the most exciting parts. You have a chance to learn from one another and to make new friends. Please be respectful, open-minded, and diplomatic in your interactions with others. Proudly represent your assigned nations AND your schools. Demonstrate and model how positive, kind, and respectful interaction promotes peace, camaraderie, and collaboration.

Enjoy the MUN experience! We want you to leave with a sense of accomplishment and ongoing inspiration to work towards "Peace, dignity and equality on a healthy planet."
